The Doctrine of Doctrine

How does doctrine work? Our inaugural issue takes up the meta-question underlying all doctrinal inquiry: how are theological claims formed, tested, revised, and transmitted within the Latter-day Saint tradition? The essays collected here approach this question from philosophy, history, and theology - not to destabilize doctrine, but to understand it more honestly.
